Hot new resource
Master super affiliate Ewen Chia has just released an affiliate training package that's a set of videos and transcripts that's absolute gold. I'm not sure what his strategy for the package, because it cost him $8000 to put together. He wrote the material and then he hired an English speaking narrator for videos, so it's an extremely professional package and it compliments this training extremely well. I've seen other programs with this quality for $1000, but Ewen is offering his right now for $37, so it's a no brainer. You can pick up your copy at http://www.YourMarketingJournal.com/training
I've also got a powerful piece of software for you that's going to literally save you thousands of dollars during your affiliate career. I'm going to give it you free at the end of this call.
So let's jump right in.
What is a super affiliate? What sets a super affiliate apart from a regular affiliate?
Affiliates fall into the same categories as the rest of the world. 20% of the people make 80% of the money.
20% of the affiliates make 80% of the money.
Super affiliates are the top 5% of the 20% that are making the money. These are the people who know how to market, they've developed a system and they simply plug affiliate programs into their system and let the system run.
These people aren't afraid to spend money on marketing. They aren't afraid to spend money to make money.
Super affiliate is someone who consistently generating sales day in day out.
How do you get to that point?
Starts before you even turn on your computer. It starts with you.
On a personal level:
Mindset – The majority of people right now in the industrialized world have a job. A lot of the time that means you have an employee mindset.
You go to work, you put in your time and you come home
When you're working your affiliate business, there's no boss to report to, no one is looking over your shoulder to make sure you're doing your job. It's all up to you to make sure things happen.
Instead of thinking of yourself as an affiliate for someone else's business, think of yourself as the president and CEO of your own marketing company because that's what you are. You choose what companies you're going to represent with your marketing services and then you work your plan.To get to that point in your mindset you have to overcome 4 main hurdles:
1. Money Paradigm
A paradigm is a commonly held belief, or way of thinking that may or may not be true. In the 1700's the common paradigm was, the world was flat. Science proved the paradigm to be false. Today, the common paradigm is that money is in limited supply.
The truth is, money is not limited. There's an unlimited amount of money because more is printed every day. So you can have as much as you want. The only truly
limited commodity is time. Don't have the time to get into great detail about this here, but your first hurdle is to break out of the box that traps you into thinking that money is hard to get. Because it's not.
2. Unrealistic Expectations
Because there are so many publicized success stories online people become overenthusiastic and become unrealistic in their expectations of what a business online will achieve. There is a lot of money to be made online, but it takes time before you build a business that's generating massive amounts of cash for you.
Example: One of my business partners and I made $41,000 in 17 days. We're very proud of that, but you have to look at the story behind the story. To get the business to the point where we could actually do that, it took 2 years of development and nurturing business relationships with our partners.
The other part of the equation is out of that $41,000, half of it was paid to affiliates, some was used on business expenses and then the remainder was used to pay ourselves.
So the point I'm trying to make is not to set yourself up with expectations of thousands and thousands of dollars in your first month of business. It can happen, but it's very rare.
3. No plan or goals
You don't need a plan that you're going to take to the bank, just a simple one page plan works. It helps you establish your goals and checkpoints. If you don't have any idea where you're going, you'll never know when you get there. Then every opportunity, every new product or idea seems like an avenue you should follow. So you're online for a year running all over the place and you never really accomplish anything because you have no plan.
Decide what you want to do. This helps you be proactive instead of reactive.
Proactive means you plan your work and then work your plan
Easy plan Objective – Strategy – Tactic
Objective:
In 1 year, I want to be earning an extra $2,000 a month.
Strategy:
I will earn this extra money by learning how to generate an income from the internet
Tactic:
I will become an affiliate of someone else's business so I can learn the ropes. Once I have a marketing system that I am comfortable with, I will design my own product, offer an affiliate program and leverage my time to increase my income.
That's a very simple overview plan for your business. You follow the same process to set up the specifics for your business like how much income is your business going to generate every day, how you're going to get traffic to your website, what products are you going to offer and really an overview of each individual component of your business.
Planning gives you a system of checks and balances so you know if you're on target or not.
Planning works hand in hand with your goals
Picture of your dream car and your dream house and your dream vacation spot – whatever it is that motivates you to get through the rough spots. Because there will be rough spots.
You'll be excited and send out an email and get no response.
You'll turn on your computer one day and not be able to connect to the internet
You'll try to login to your website and find that the server has crashed
All sorts of things will happen
If you don't have that drive and the reminder of what you're working towards pinned up right in front of you, it's easy to just throw your hands up in the air in frustration and give up.
Written goals
Example:
Work backwards.
$20,000 a year = $1700 month = $57 a day
Now you look at how to make $57 a day and plan a schedule for making that money each day.
Quick example of my day:
9-11 answer email then don't open my mail again until the next day
11-12 I write an article or press release or email messages
12-12:30 eat lunch
12:30-2 marketing
2-4 long term product development
4-8 family time
8-12 networking, working on my ToDo list
Third hurdle planning and goals
4. Information overload
The only way to cut through the clutter is to develop a pin point focus on what you're doing. That's where your ToDo list and scheduling your activities comes in. If you focus on completing the tasks that have to be done, it helps you ignore all the racket that out there and you get more accomplished in less time.
That's the 4 hurdles
Now that you've prepared yourself on a personal level with
Proper mindset
You're ready to overcome the hurdles of
- money paradigm
- unrealistic expectations
- lack of plan and goals
- focus cut through the information overload
Now you're ready to look at the business end of the process
---
Why affiliate programs?
1. Fastest way to generate a cash flow
2. You have no product development time or costs
3. You have no customer service to deal with
4. You have no merchant accounts or credit card processors to deal with
5. If the product you're promoting isn't selling, you can change your direction
Running an affiliate business is really not that complicated. In it's very basic sense, being an affiliate of someone else's business simply means you're going to get a commission on every sale that you generate for a business.
If you're an affiliate of a business that's publishing information, you're commissions will be very high. They can be anywhere from 50% - 100% So there's big money to be made as an affiliate. Highly recommend the information publishing industry because your commissions are high enough that you can spend some money on your marketing and still have a high profit margin.
The mechanics of it are fairly simple as well. You get a specially coded link or URL from the business you're promoting and then you promote that link.
That's the very basic overview, you're getting paid a commission for the products that you're selling.
The next piece of the puzzle – where to look for affiliate programs to promote
1. What have you bought lately that you really like and can recommend to other people. As a professional affiliate, you're going to be recommending products and services to other people. If you recommend low quality products, people will not buy from you again. You ruin your reputation and your sales potential.
2. Affiliate portals

After you've chosen affiliate programs that suite you, you need to build a website.
Why do you need a website as an affiliate?
1. Branding
Right from the very beginning you want to brand yourself or your company, you don't want to be a puppet for someone else. If you're simply promoting other people's websites as an affiliate, you're just a puppet.
As soon as you set up your own website and start letting people know who you are, you start creating your brand. Branding in this sense is more name recognition. Your circle of influence gets to know and trust you.
2. Collect your prospect's names and email addresses,
3. space to archive your work - Articles - Press releases - Information about yourself
4. create redirect links – works like an elevator you send people to a page like http://www.yourmarketingjournal.com/training and that link transports you to Ewen Chia's Affiliate Training program
3 reasons to use redirect links
1. Much more professional than http://www.affiliateofthemonth.com/go.php?offer=bridgeport&pid=1
2. It helps prevent people replacing your affiliate link with theirs and stealing your commission
3. It shortens your links so they don't get broken in email
Setting up your affiliate website to collect contact details is one business model
Another affiliate business model is to make a really simple page that gives your visitor a limited number of choices.
If you look at TvTerry.com it's the most basic affiliate website you'll see. It's got a video, 2 links and my contact details. But it generates sales ever single month.
Another affiliate business model is to set up your website using blog software like WordPress if you're going to do reviews of products use articles. Advantages of using a blog format are:
- Easy to publish without any website experience
- Preset specific words to link to your affiliate programs
- Marketing advantages of having your blog listed in blog directories that get picked up quickly by search engines and that generates traffic for you
Maximize each visitor to your website
They're going to do 1 of 4 things
1. Sign up to your list or database
2. Buy your product
3. bookmark your site
4. Leave
Maximize their visit
1. collect their contact details with a landing page where they sign up before they enter your site
2. collect their details in a form on your sales page
3. pop under with an offer as they exit your site
4. customize your error pages with an offer ie. http://www.YourMarketingJournal.com/1234567
normally you get the standard text sorry the page you're looking for was not found blah blah blah
So now your website is maximizing each visitor and driving them into your database
But simply building a list doesn't make you any money. It's what you do with your database that makes you money.
Reason it's important to build this database or your list
97% - 99% of the people that visit your website won't buy on the first visit then they're lost.
7 – 12 contacts with someone to make a purchase
build up trust and relationship by emailing them on a regular basis
Your database is your goldmine. It's what gives your business value if you decide to sell it in the future and it's what makes you money both long and short term.
Database is also your secret weapon for generating multiple streams of income semi passively or on autopilot.
Multiple streams of income because you can join dozens even hundreds of affiliate programs and promote them to your database. And it's free! Once people are in your database it doesn't cost anything to email them with your offers.
Set up your autoresponder on a schedule – daily, weekly, monthly – you've always got people reading your messages because the person that signs up today gets message 1 promoting affiliate program A, but the person that signed up 3 months ago may be reading message 20 for affiliate program Z
Income from multiple affiliate programs all at the same time
And when you're writing your messages, there's a bit of a secret to maximize the sales from each program.
Secret about setting up your messages in your autoresponder that can take your open rate for a single affiliate program from 30% - 90%.
Secret is send 3 messages for each affiliate program you're promoting. Each message focuses on a different angle of the program.
3 different subject lines, 3 different angles that you approach the program from
Each time a message is sent 30% of your subscribers read the message so if you send a message 3 times, you've got a 90% open rate for each program you promote
This system works like magic because different people are interested in different aspects of each program
Once you've got your system in place for maximizing each visitor to your website, you need to start driving traffic to your site.
Next week we're going to cover how to drive traffic to your website
